E.ON develops MMP3
E.ON Benelux is already operating a coal power plant with two units (1.040 MW combined) on the Maasvlakte and the construction of a third is currently underway. The Maasvlakte Power Plant 3 (MMP3) has a capacity of circa 1070 MW.
MMP3 is an ultramodern coal power plant which uses powdered coal to generate steam with exceptionally high steam conditions (285 bar, 600 to 620 °C). The steam is converted into electricity with the use of a turbine and a generator. This means that the unit will supply circa 7% of the national electricity consumption.
This puts MMP3 in the category of the largest coal fired units built in the world. The construction costs amount to approximately 1,2 billion euro. The plant should be operational by December 2012.
As commissioned by E.ON Benelux, Burdock supports this project in the areas of contract management (civil), cost control and administrative support.
