Project Gaasperdammerweg

Customer: Rijkswaterstaat

Branche: roadworks

Project duration: 4 years

IXAS is working on the expansion of the A9 between the Holendrecht and Diemen junctions: the Gaasperdammerweg. IXAS is a collaboration between Ballast Nedam, Fluor, Heijmans and 3i, established for the A9 Gaasperdammerweg project. The activities at the A9 are part of the road expansion Schiphol-Amsterdam-Almere (SAA).

Project goal

Until 2020, the A9 Gaasperdammerweg motorway between the Holendrecht and Diemen junctions will be broadened to 5 lanes per driving direction plus an exchange lane. The extra lanes will improve the thoroughfare of traffic, and with it make the northern Randstad more accessible. Around 3 kilometres of the A9 Gaasperdammerweg will be tunneled. This will improve the air quality of the neighbourhoods surrounding the motorway, and will reduce sound. On the roof of the tunnel, a large park will be built that connects neighbourhoods in Amsterdan South-East, which will effectively dissolve the current fysical barrier between the Bijlmer (north of A9) and Gaasperdam neighbourhood (south of A9).

We began the project in 2016. The project is expected to be completed in 2020.
